Where can I look for a job?
There are many ways how to look for a job. Nowadays, we usually use specialized internet websites with job advertisements, but it’s not the only way. If you are starting to look for a job or you haven’t been successful for a longer time, you can book appointment with us, we can find solution together.
FREE ACCESS TO THE LABOR MARKET
A work permit is not required for foreigners, who are:
- EU citizens
- Citizens of the third countries who obtained (or only applied for) a temporary residence permit for the family member of a Czech/EU citizen
- Long-term residence permit holders with a purpose of family reunion
- Students with a long-term visa or a long-term residence permit (daily form of study, only secondary schools, universities, and language schools with accreditation of the Ministry of Education)
- Third-country nationals who obtained a permanent residence permit
- Other situations described in the Employment Law no. 435/2004 Sb - § 98
Curriculum vitae (CV), motivation letter
Before you start looking for a job, you need to have your CV. You should be very careful while writing it and updating it. CV is in a way like your business card that must catch employer’s attention so he/she would invite you for a job interview.
Motivation letter, sometimes called covering letter, is nowadays common part of an application for a job. It’s not always requested by employers, but even in that case you can increase your chances by sending it.
Responding to a job offer
It is good to make a list of companies and positions for which you have applied.
As you often respond to more job offers every day, you can easily forget which ones you have replied to. But when an employer calls, you should know immediately who are you talking to and what position it is about. A phone call can be already used as a part of the selection procedure.

- find information about the company
- prepare a self-presentation (summary of your CV)
- prepare what would you answer to the typical questions. At least, you should be able to answer to the following three question (you can use them answering other questions)

- Why this POSITION?
- Why this COMPANY?
- choose clothes adequate for the position you are applying for
- check in advance how to get to the address to make sure you won’t get lost and you will be there on time
